Gwyn Gulley
Candidate for Circuit Judge
17th Judicial Circuit – Subcircuit 1:
I believe in seeking and utilizing alternatives to incarceration where appropriate. Judges should seek out the roots of problems and focus on prevention, education, and rehabilitation. I would like to explore the expansion of specialized courts such as Mental Health Court, Drug Court and Domestic Violence Court. Court personnel should continue to team up with law enforcement and social service agencies to improve the administration of justice in our court system.
To make our courts run more efficiently, I am in favor of exploring the possibility of Night and Weekend Court or a fast track system to reduce jail overcrowding and to better track those in custody.
There are enormous volumes of cases that must pass through the judicial system. Therefore, there is a need for additional judges, attorneys and court personnel to effectively move each case through the system in an efficient manner. This will ensure that those involved receive a fair, expeditious resolution of their case.
I would like to see better use of technology in our courthouse such as a computer board to better assist the public in locating courtrooms and providing information on docketed cases. |
